Speculation stemming from the Spanish media today has outlandishly suggested that PSG have already agreed to sell Neymar back to Barcelona this summer, should the Blaugrana choose to reignite their pursuit.
Barca’s Neymar chase
Barcelona’s attempts to coax Brazilian attacker Neymar back to the club proved one of the talking points of last summer’s transfer window.
Two years on from his La Liga departure, Neymar was hotly-tipped to make a return to the Camp Nou.
Despite having already added Antoine Griezmann to their attacking ranks, the Spanish champions were long said to have been eyeing a further splash before the close of the European transfer market.
PSG, however, proved an altogether tough nut to crack for the Blaugrana hierarchy.
Though reports had been rampant that Neymar himself had his heart set on linking back up with his former club, and PSG having publicly scolded their star man for his behaviour, the capital outfit’s board stood firm in demanding a premium fee for a player whom they splashed out a world-record €222 million on in 2017.
This eventually resulted in widespread confirmation late in August that Barca had come to the decision to call a definitive end to their chase of the Brazilian:
Barça sources have confirmed that they have formally rejected PSG’s last proposal, which consisted of 130 million euros, Dembélé on loan and transfers of Rakitić and Todibo. The operation is practically ruled out. [cat radio]

Barca return back on?
Speculation throughout the season since, though, has seen questions raised regarding whether those in charge at the Camp Nou could yet rekindle their pursuit of Neymar.
The La Liga champions have often struggled for creativity over the course of the campaign, with the burden on the shoulders of Lionel Messi to conjure up moments of magic more prevalent than ever.
Neymar’s individual brilliance, meanwhile, would no doubt go a long way towards easing the pressure on Barca’s talisman.
And, if the latest word stemming from Spain over the last 24 hours is to be believed, then the Blaugrana could well prove successful, if they attempt to re-sign their former attacking star ahead of next season.
As per a report from AS, PSG have agreed to a pact with Neymar, whereby they will sanction his return to Catalunya, should Barca come calling this summer.
The agreement is said to have been in place ‘for months’, based on the Brazilian’s word that he would give his all in the club’s pursuit of European glory this summer.
The price-tag quoted by AS, meanwhile, is around €170 million.
Barca, though, could reduce this sum significantly by including one of Philippe Coutinho or Ousmane Dembele in any potential deal.
