Everton vs Man City
Monday’s late Premier League clash was scheduled to see Manchester City and Everton face off at Goodison Park.
Both sides were primed to enter proceedings in fine form.
The Toffees started the day sitting 2nd in the Premier League table, after picking up four wins in a row.
Man City, meanwhile, were undefeated in five league outings, climbing up to 6th place.
Pep Guardiola’s side also boast a game in hand on most of the clubs around them, and could potentially have moved as high as 2nd with a win on Monday.
In turn, for obvious reasons, there was widespread excitement surrounding the Merseyside clash.
Everton vs Man City called off
Tonight’s Goodison showdown, however, has now been called off.
Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker of course missed City’s boxing day win over Newcastle United, after returning positive Covid-19 tests:

And now, there appears to have been a further breakout in the Sky Blues’ camp.
As first reported by the Daily Mail’s Jack Gaughan, City’s trip to Everton has been postponed on the back of further positive Covid tests at the Etihad:

Man City, meanwhile, have since released the following statement, confirming the news:
After the latest round of Covid-19 testing, the club returned a number of positive cases, in addition to the four already reported on Christmas Day. With the security of the bubble compromised, there posed a risk that the virus could spread further amongst the squad, the staff and potentially beyond. Based on strong medical advice the Premier League, in consultation with both clubs, have decided to postpone the fixture.
