Reports Leverkusen set to accept Chelsea bid totalling €100m for Kai Havertz labelled ‘nonsense’ by club’s sporting director

Havertz linked with Chelsea

Havertz, who just under two years left on his current contract with Leverkusen, has been linked with a move to Chelsea for some time now.

And, according to a report from Telegraph last week, the Londoners took a big step forward in their pursuit of the German.

It was claimed that personal terms had been agreed on a five-year deal for Havertz to join Chelsea.

Havertz scored 12 and assisted six in 30 Bundesliga outings this past season.

However, there still looked to be the issue of an actual transfer sum being agreed between Chelsea and Leverkusen

The above-linked report stated that Leverkusen want a fee in excess of €90m for their star man.

However, Chelsea, at that time, were only believed to have tabled an offer of around €20m less than that.

Chelsea & Leverkusen reportedly agree Havertz fee

In the days since, though, the Londoners look to have stepped up their offer for the German international.

As we covered on Sunday, Fabrizio Romano reported over the weekend that Chelsea had submitted an offer with an update expected in the next few days.

Now, on Monday, a fresh update concerning Havertz has been forthcoming and it seems like great news for the Blues.

As first reported on Romano’s official Twitter account, Havertz to Chelsea is just one step away with a total agreement expected to be reached in the next hours.

It is added that Chelsea’s last bid, which totals €100m, is set to be accepted.

However, though Romano is generally a reliable source, Leverkusen’s managing director Rudi Voller was quick to comment on these rumours, stating:

“This is nonsense.”
