Leicester vs Aston Villa

Sunday evening will see a Midlands-based derby play out between Leicester and Aston Villa.

Both sides head into the tie in solid form, which should make for an enthralling clash.

Villa have played one less Premier League game than the Foxes this term, but have managed to pick up maximum points, with their last outing having of course seen Dean Smith’s men down champions Liverpool by 7 goals to 2.

As for Leicester, they fell to defeat in their last league outing. But, prior to this, the King Power outfit had won three on the bounce, including a 5-2 drubbing of Man City.

Leicester fitness update

Ahead of Sunday’s clash, meanwhile, Brendan Rodgers has provided a fitness update on a number of Leicester’s key players.

The news, though, is not exactly positive from a Foxes perspective.

First, Rodgers confirmed that Caglar Soyuncu could be out of action for a number of weeks:

“We think that Çağs will most definitely be out with an abductor strain, so we’re waiting on the scan on that.

“We think that he is definitely out for a number of weeks, but until we get the final scans, that will determine the length of time.”

The Leicester boss then cast doubt over the potential involvement of Jamie Vardy and Jonny Evans versus Villa, before confirming that Dennis Praet is also struggling for fitness:

“Jonny has come back with abdominal pain, so again, we’ll review that. We’re hopeful that Jonny will be okay and that would obviously be a great bonus for the team.

“Vards has an issue around his calf, so we’re awaiting a scan on that.

“Dennis Praet, obviously, has gone away and done some work with Belgium, so we’ll see how he is, but he’ll be a doubt.”

On a slightly more positive note, though, Rodgers went on to reveal that James Maddison will be fit enough to play at least some part tomorrow evening:

“He’s been out with the rehab team and joined in with training so he will be able to play some part at the weekend, which is great news for us.”
