SA records 513 more deaths, 14 410 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday

South Africa has recorded 14 410 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s total cases to 1 127 759. The country now has a 30% positivity rate.

A total of 513 new deaths have also been reported on Tuesday to bring the total COVID-19 related deaths to 30 524.

Most of the new fatalities are from the Eastern Cape, which has recorded 124 new deaths.

“Regrettably, a further 513 deaths have been reported: Eastern Cape 124, Free State 14, Gauteng 64, Kwa-Zulu Natal 92, Limpopo three, Northern Cape 14 and Western Cape 202. This brings the total deaths to 30 524. We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased,” says Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize.

South Africa has conducted 6 828 147 tests so far with 47 875 conducted in the last 24-hour cycle.

The private sector accounts for 58% (3 958 323) of total tests, while the public sector accounts for 42% (2 869 824).

The country’s recoveries stand at 920 879 recoveries with a recovery rate of 81.6%.
