Arsenal are close to agreeing a deal to loan Sead Kolasinac back to his former club Schalke.
Kolasinac to leave on loan
Arsenal are reportedly close to loaning Sead Kolasinac back to Schalke after the Bosnian international’s 3 years in north London.
The 27-year old has found opportunities at The Gunners limited since Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney from Celtic in the summer of 2019. Kolasinac was close to leaving the Gunners on deadline day in the summer of 2020 to Bayer Leverkusen were it not for the deal to fall through in the final hours of the window.
The deal is supposedly a loan which could see the Bosnian join on a permanent basis in the summer. Kolasinac was included in the Bundesliga team of the season before making his move to Arsenal at the expiration of his contract. He has gone on to make 78 League appearances for Arsenal and scored 2 Premier League goals.

The importance of departures
Arsenal’s outgoing business in the January window is arguably as any prospective purchases. Arsenal’s squad is bursting at the seams so much so that two senior players were left out of the Premier League and Europa League squads.
Mesut Ozil and Sokratis were both left out as Arsenal were unable to move players on at the end of the previous summer window. Therefore, this January it is especially key that technical director Edu focuses on moving on plenty of Arsenal’s deadweight in addition to finding any gems to bring in.
There are several players which see their contracts expire at the end of the season including the aforementioned Sokratis and Ozil. In addition, Shkodran Mustafi and David Luiz will also leave on a free during the summer window.

There are also players with just 18 months left on their deal. Alexandre Lacazette, Eddie Nketiah, Calum Chambers, Mohamed Elneny and Kolasinac enter the final year upon the completion of the current campaign.
If Arsenal are able to gain any financial capital from the departure of any of these players, it will be beneficial in the club’s attempts to improve the squad whilst stripping it of any surplus talent.
