Sead Kolasinac reportedly on verge of Arsenal departure

Speculation stemming from the German media on Tuesday suggests that Arsenal star Sead Kolasinac is on the verge of a move to Bayer Leverkusen.

Arsenal’s quiet window

Much has of course been made of the need for sales at the Emirates of late.

With less than a week remaining in the summer transfer window, Arsenal are yet to secure the kind of high-profile reinforcement which Mikel Arteta’s midfield is so desperately in need of.

This comes for a host of reasons, with Atletico Madrid and Lyon understandably not prepared to allow either Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar to move on without a fight.

Most significant of all, though, is the lack of funds readily available to the transfer chiefs on the red half of north London.

The Gunners’ financial constraints have long been widely documented in the media, with the addition of Gabriel Magalhaes earlier this month having evidently eaten up a considerable chunk of Arsenal’s summer transfer budget.

Kola set for Germany

As we edge closer to next week’s transfer deadline, the need for swift departures from the Emirates has therefore become more pressing than ever.

A whole host of Gunners stars have been tipped for exits this summer, with the likes of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Shkodran Mustafi all potentially set to be on the move over the coming days.

As outlined above, however, it is another member of Mikel Arteta’s squad who now appears closest to the exit door.

The player in question? Sead Kolasinac.

As per a report from German outlet SportBild, the Bosnian is ‘about to come to an agreement’ with Bayer Leverkusen over a move to the BayArena.

This will unlock the door for the transfer to go ahead, with Arsenal expected to bag a fee of around €10 million for Kolasinac’s services.
