Sergio Reguilon insists Tottenham players have even more desire to end trophy drought than fans

Stoke vs Tottenham

The League Cup returned to our screens on Tuesday.

Two sides, Brentford and Manchester City, have already booked their spot in this season’s semi-finals after seeing off Newcastle and Arsenal.

The final two teams to make it into the last four will be decided later today.

The first of those two ties takes place at 5:30 PM UK time when Tottenham take on Championship outfit, Stoke.

Reguilon on winning a trophy with Spurs

With decorated boss Jose Mourinho at the helm, and Championship opposition in front of them, Spurs do seemingly have a decent shot at winning this competition in 2020.

Clinching the League Cup would bring an end to their 12-year trophy drought, with the Lilywhites not winning anything since 2008 when they would indeed pick up the LC.

Ahead of the Stoke game, new boy Sergio Reguilon was drawn on Spurs’ long wait for a trophy.

And the full-back was well aware of it, claiming the players are even keener than the fans to put an end to it:

“I am very much aware of it. You are aware of stuff on social media and how the fans are really keen to win a trophy.

“But believe me, if the fans are keen to win a trophy, we have even more desire as players and as a squad.”
