A new football mini-stadium to be built by Nasarawa state government will soon be commissioned in Akwanga, the Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau, has said.
Gusau revealed this on Sunday after the final match of the 2024 Nasarawa North Football Competition at Wamba, Akwanga, Nasarawa state between Future International FC and Akwanga Selected FC.
“There is nothing relating to football development we asked the governor of Nasarawa state that he has not done for us.
“So,we are using this opportunity to announce that we will soon come to Akwanga to commission a mini-stadium, Gusau told media.
Echoing the NFF President, Jafaru Ango, the Nasarawa state Commissioner for Sports said the state government has in the last three months started working on the mini-stadium but the land on which the stadium will be built has not been approved.
Future International FC won 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 regulation time scoreline.
In a twenty-team competition, the champions, Future International FC smiled to bank to cash out N680,000 while runners-up, Akwanga Selected got N420,000 and the bronze winning team, Leopard Academy also from Akwanga received N250,000.
The sponsor of the tournament, Honourable Silas Agara while speaking with media said it’s going to be an annual competition adding that a team that will ply their trade at the Nigeria Nationwide League (NLO) would be selected from the competition and be registered to compete in the league next season.
