The newly crowned African player of the year Ademola Lookman was the cynosure of all eyes on Sunday evening at the Gewiss Stadium as he led Atalanta to a narrow 3-2 win over Empoli.

The Nigerian International arrived the stadium with his award and received a standing ovations from the crowd.

It was the away side who scored the opening goal in the 13th minute through Colombo before Ketelaere leveled up the game in the 34th minute.

Lookman put the host ahead on the stroke of halftime with a well taken goal and ensured that Atalanta was in control going into the break.

Esposito restored parity for Empoli midway into the second half before Ketelaere scored the winning goal in the 86th minute and ensured that the La Dea secured their 13th consecutive win.
