The first set of training scheduled for Australia commenced on Thursday as 18 of the 23 invited Super Falcons players filed out at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure centre, an Arena in Carrara, Australia.
The team led by head coach Randy Waldrum still await the arrival of CSKA Moscow’s attacker Francisca Ordega, who last featured for her club side on the 24th of June 2023 in the Russian Women’s Football Championship against Yenisey, a game CSKA won to maintain 2nd place on the log table after 14 games played.
Another Falcon yet to arrive camp is FC Rosengàrd’s Halimatu Ayinde who also featured in her club’s 2-1 win over Norrkòping four days ago in the Swedish Damallsvenskan, as they relentlessly chase a spot in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers for next season.
Although, 21 players have reported to camp, however, Monday Gift of UD Granadilla Tenerife in the Spanish Liga F, Tochukwu Oluehi of Hakkarigücü Spor in Turkey, and Ester Okoronwo of Saint-Étienne in France all sat out the first round of training due to their time to arrivals.
The Super Falcons have roughly a fortnight to prepare for the Word Cup and their first group opponents, Canada, with the hopes of relegating home disputes while shifting focus to an impressive campaign.
