The head coach of the Desert Foxes of Algeria, Djamel Belmadi has tagged Nigeria’s Super Eagles as one of the big favourites to win the competition in Ivory Coast.
The 2019 champion made the statement during a press conference organised on Sunday where he also named his final squad for the tournament.
Belmadi said the favourites are always the same every year and refused to recognise his country among the contenders.
”The CAN favourites are often the same and we know them: Egypt, Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast which, for me, is a big favourite because of its squad and because it plays at home.
However, the competition is great and no one can be certain of the future winner”, he said.
Algeria has won the competition twice in 1990 and 2019.
