Despite having an array of stars, the coach of Burkina Faso Hubert Velud has ignored Nigeria’s Super Eagles among the countries he has tipped to win the 2023 African Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Burkinababes were drawn in Group D alongside Algeria, Angola and Mauritania for the upcoming biennial competition in Ivory Coast.
When he was speaking on the competition, the French manager said he believes Algeria, Morocco, Ivory Coast and defending champions Senegal have the chance of winning the tournament.
“In terms of overall numbers, I would say Morocco, Ivory Coast, Algeria and Senegal. These countries are for me the favorites for CAN 2023.
Afterwards, it is not always the favourites who win, there can be surprises”, he said.
Burkina Faso finished the last competition in the 4th place while Nigeria crashed out in the second round, losing to the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia
