Nigeria’s Super Eagles redeemed themselves on Thursday with a narrow win over the host Elephant of Coted’Ivoire at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe.
The Ivorians commenced the game with full confidence after winning their opening game against the Djurtus of Guinea Bissau.
The started started with the Elephant trying to control the game but the attack line of Nigeria led by Victor Osimhen continued to torment the host.
The second half resumed with the 3-time African champions growing in confidence and seized control of the game.
Their effort got a deserved reward in the 55th minute when they got a penalty which was converted by defender William Troost Ekong.
The host threw everything forward to get the game level but they found the Nigerian backline hard nut to crack as the game ended 1-0 in favour of Nigeria.
