Nottingham Forest talisman Taiwo Awoniyi has emphasized that Super Eagle is for everyone and getting invited is a big privilege.
The hardworking attacker was among the 23 players invited by the Super Eagle coach Jose Peseiro for the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone.
Awoniyi had a season to remember as his goals played an active role in Forest retaining its Premier League status.
While speaking on his invitation, Awoniyi said Nigeria players are scattered everywhere, and getting invited is a rare opportunity
“It’s a great privilege for any player, it’s an honor and it shouldn’t be taken for granted.
“However, the Super Eagles is not a home for everyone.
“You can’t stay there forever, because it’s not for a single player. You can be here today and not be here tomorrow.
“If you look at the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, and other leagues, we have a lot of Nigerian players who are doing well.
“But, the main thing is that you do your best when you have the chance”, he said.
