The preparation of the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone for the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles suffered a huge blow as captain Steven Caulker is down with an injury.
Sierra Leone will play host to the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Matchday 5 of the AFCON qualifier at the famous Samuel Kayon Doe Sports Complex in Liberia slated for June.
Caulker suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and underwent a successful meniscus surgery on Friday.
The medics confirmed that the lanky defender will be out of action for six weeks which makes him a big doubt for the all-important game.
Super Eagles will qualify for the biennial competition if they could avoid defeat while Sierra Leone will reignite their qualification hope with a win.
