Former Nigeria’s Flying Eagles coach Emmanuel Amuneke has insisted that the Super Eagles prove themselves in the Upcoming African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Super Eagles will commence their campaign in the competition with a game against Equatorial Guinea before facing the host Ivory Coast and Guinea Bissau later in the competition.
While speaking to the Egypt news outlet Btolat, Amuneke said the Super Eagles must games to prove their worth.
“It may deceive some people. Most of the teams were hoping to avoid the host country, Côte d’Ivoire. Perhaps there is speculation about Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria qualifying for the next round, but in football, you cannot predict what might happen from Equatorial Guinea and Guinea Bissau.”
“There has been development in these two teams in recent years. They have players in European teams. Of course, the chances of Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria are stronger, but they must prove their ability to qualify by winning”, he concluded.
