Super Falcons midfielder Christy Onyenaturuchi Ucheibe has been rated high by FIFA among the top players with the most tackles won at the just concluded FIFA World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Super Falcons were recently rated the 10th best team overall at the World Cup, with notably impressive performances by Chimaka Nnadozie in goal alongside Michelle Alozie, and Ashleigh Plumptre as full-backs, supporting Halimatu Ayinde and Antoinette Payne in midfield, to mention but a few.

Christy Ucheibe’s role with the team, after starring in every game, has also been recognized with the 22-year-old SL Benfica Women player making the top 10 list for most tackles won in the competition.

FIFA released the statistics table of the successful tackles consisting of three English players, alongside one Aussie, Colombian, Dutch, French, Spanish, Swedish, and Nigerian player apiece to collate the best 10.

Ucheibe ranked 7th-best in the standings with 36 successful tackles, ahead of World Cup finalists Keira Walsh of England and Ona Batlle of Spain in 9th and 8th places respectively, with Lorena Bedoya of Columbia sitting as the 10th-best tackler.

English duo Lucy Bronze in 6th and Georgia Stanway in 3rd also cut, with Grace Geyoro of France in 5th and Swedish midfielder Filippa Angeldahl in 4th also recognized.

PSG Women player Jackie Groenen was 2nd-best with 44 successful tackles, having helped her team to the quarters before losing to Spain, while 31-year-old Katrina Gorry who represented co-host Australia held pole position with 59 successful tackles.

Christy Ucheibe has returned to Portugal to join her teammates at SL Benfica Women in preparation for their Super Cup Women’s semifinal against Braga Women on the 2nd of September 2023.
