Nigeria’s D’Tigress continued its dominance in basketball on the continent as they reached their fourth consecutive final of the Women’s Afrobasketball championship in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Nigerian side under a newly appointed manager Rena Wakama on Thursday defeated host Rwanda 79-48 at the BK Arena to qualify for the final.
D’Tigress seized control of the game from the blast of the whistle and secured a 22-6 win in the first quarter and by halftime, they have attained an unassailable lead of 44-18.
The host improved their performance in the third quarter but failed to meet up with the Nigeria team who dominated 58-35.
D’Tigress wrapped up the game in the final quarter with a comfortable 79-48 win.
Nigeria will take on it either Mali or Senegal in the final on Sunday.
Apart from reaching the final, D’Tigress also picked one of the two tickets allocated to Africa for the 2024 Pre- Olympic Games qualifiers.
