Barely a month to the commencement of 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, debutants, the Republic of Ireland sent a warning signal to Super Falcons of Nigeria with their victory over Shepolopolo of Zambia.

The Irish will be making their debut at the World Cup slated to commence on the 20th of July in Australia and New Zealand.

In one of the warm-up games lined up for the team, they secured a 3-2 win over Zambia at home late on Thursday.

The Zambian took the lead through an own goal in the 16th minute but the host equalised in the 49th minute through Barett’s penalty.

Riodam put the Irish team ahead in the 63rd minute before Barett completed her brace in the 71st minute while Kumadji reduced the tally to 3-2.

Ireland will face Nigeria, Canada and Australia in the same group
