The reason the Republic of Sao Tome and Principe senior women national team withdrew from the 2024 Women’s African Cup of Nations qualifier has been revealed.
The Central African country was drawn to face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the first round of the qualifier but decided to pull out of the race.
Their withdrawal means that Super Falcons progressed to the next round of the qualifiers without kicking the ball.
While speaking to the Punch Correspondent, the director of the media communication of the Nigeria Football Federation Ademola Olajire said Sao Tome does not have a good stadium in their country.
” They said they don’t have a stadium in their country and that has increased their cost of participating in international competitions,” he said.
Super Falcons will now face Cape Verde in the second round of the qualifier.
