Benin Republic came back from a goal down to beat Libya 2-1 in the Matchday 2 of the 2025 African Nations Cup qualifier.
Junior Olaitan was the hero as his strike earned Benin Republic a 2-1 comeback win against Libya in abidjan on Tuesday.
Benin Republic had began the AFCON 2025 qualifiers with a 3-0 loss to Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday.
Faical Al Badri gave Libya the lead in the 9th minute which they took into the break.
But Five minutes into the second half Benin Republic equalised thanks to Steve Mounie goal.
In the 62nd minute Benin Republic went 2-1 ahead after Junior Olaitan converted from the penalty spot.
With the victory, the Cheetahs have maintained their five consecutive home victories and are second on the 2025 African Nations Cup qualifier Group D table with three points from two games. Nigeria had on Saturday defeated Benin Republic 3-0 in the Matchday 1 of the qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium Uyo before a 0-0 draw with Rwanda to maintain top-of-the-table position with four points.
