The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco will take place during the summer, the Moroccan Royal Federation of Football (FRMF) have confirmed.
This will mark the second time in history that the competition will be played in the summer after the 2019 edition in Egypt.
The decision comes in order to reduce scheduling conflicts with European club teams and competitions, that see their star players depart to play for their countries.
However, it’s yet to be seen how FIFA will handle the news, given that the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will also be played in the summer in the USA during the same period.
Moreover, the Moroccan Royal Federation of Football they renewed its trust in head coach Walid Regragui after the Atlas Lions’ early elimination in the 2023 AFCON.
