She played fantastic golf to take the lead from Kabasweka Peace of Uganda as the battle for the championship’s top prize went down to the wire on the final day.

The last flight teed off and ended on Sunday with a pulsating encounter between Nigeria and Uganda as the tournament beckoned for a new Ladies Open Champion.

“I am filled with joy for winning this tournament for the second time. Oyome began.

Though, it is my fourth time winning of golf titles. But defending the championship and winning it back to back is a great joy for me and I am happy I did it.

“The secret behind this wins is that I have been playing golf handicap that I should play as a single digit repeatedly. So, it’s hard work that I have been doing for long time that is paying off. Continued playing of golf every time led to this success. Once there is a good golf course where I can be able to exercise and play my game, I am good to go in any tournament in my category.” Oyome said.

Also, Grace Agbo of IBB International Golf County and Club with a total score of 252 finished as 3rd place gross.

Ugbegu Igho of Asaba playing handicap 20 with a nett score of 218 emerged winner of the nett prize.

Sandra Haruna of the IBB Golf Club, playing off handicap 28 with 220 nett finished second in the category.

While Lady Captain, Folashade Olateju also of IBB Golf Club, playing off handicap 28 with 220 nett settled for the 3rd place position.

Also speaking, elated Ladies Captain, Olateju Folashade, rated the 25th Ladies Open Golf Championship high thanking God for the successful running of the competition.

“The championship has been a huge success. We started in 13th with the Pros, after which amateur golfers took over the stage and Since then, I thank God that there is no casualty. Rounding it up today, I thank God for making it a big success.

“After this, we still have Lady Captain Day, this is to round up my tenure as the Lady Captain for 2023-2024 year.

Thank God Nigerian is the overall winner of the competition taking the first prize. The Ugandans, we won’t deceive ourselves are good players. They are better because most of them face the game squarely where we, Nigeria women have some other things we do besides playing golf. The Lady Captain said.
