The coach of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa Hugo Broos has advised the president of the Federation of Cameroon Football ( FECAFOOT) to stay from the Indomitable Lions.
The Cameroonian side sneaked into the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast and still crashed out to Nigeria 2-0.
Broos who led Cameroon to the AFCON glory in 2017 said the former Barcelona striker is too involved in the running of the team and further said that he needed to stay away from the team and let the technical crew do their job.
” Samuel Eto’o has always had a very big personality. That’s why he thinks he has to be everywhere. He often takes initiative even when he shouldn’t.
He must let people work. Even if he has the experience, because he was really a great player. He needs to distance himself a little.
And that’s Eto’o’s problem. Eto’o wants to do good for his country but sometimes he is too involved. It’s not always good because you make people doubt.
Nobody dares to say no to Eto’o because when you are in front of him you are in front of a great player. And that’s his problem,” criticized Broos.
“It’s not negative what I’m saying but maybe if he distances himself a little and lets people work a little more freely, without him always being there, I think that could help,” he said.
