The Nigeria senior Men’s basketball team D’Tigers are poised to slam and dunk with Mali and Angola in the group phase at the forthcoming FIBA AfroCan Championship.
Following the disappointment faced by the Nigeria senior Men’s basketball team in the just concluded Zone 3 FIBA AfroCan qualifiers in Abidjan, D’Tigers were handed a lifeline at redemption claiming one of two wildcards to feature in the 2nd edition of the competition billed for Angola.
The home-based team will face their Malian counterparts in their first group match next Sunday, 9th July 2023, before battling Angola the next day, at 2 pm each day, hoping to secure a spot in the knockout series.
This will be the second edition of the AAfricantournament, following the first edition held in Bamako, Mali, four years ago, when the Democratic Republic of Congo’s national basketball team finished as inaugural champions in 2019.
Other groups in the tournament feature Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, and Gabon in one pot, Morocco, Rwanda, and Tunisia in another, while the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, and Mozambique complete the four groupings.
