African Football League: Enyimba Battles Wydad, Get N529m As Participation Fee

Nigeria Premier Football League defending champions, Enyimba will face Moroccan side, Wydad Casablanca in the quarter-finals of the inaugural edition of the African Football League.

The People’s Elephants who were seeded in Pot 1 alongside Simba SC, TP Mazembe, and Atlético Petróleos, were drawn against the Moroccan top side in the draw conducted on Saturday at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cairo office, in Egypt.

The tournament which is a knockout format (Home & Away games) will kick off in October starting from the quarter-final.

Cheery news for the Aba Millionaires, as they and the other seven teams will each receive USD 700,000 (about N529Million Naira) as a participation fee.

Enyimba will host Wydad Casablanca in Uyo, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium (Nest Of Champions).

The opening ceremony of the African Football League and first match will be held on 20 October 2023 in Dar es Salam, Tanzania.
