Team Nigeria youth women’s handball team will have their hands full when this year’s African Women’s Youth Championship commence later this week.
The draw for the championship was held last weekend and Nigeria were drawn in group A alongside Guinea, Algeria and two-time champions and host Tunisia.
Group B has the defending champion and the most successful team in the championship with four titles, Egypt, three-time finalist Angola, DR Congo and Morocco.
The last time Nigeria took part in the championship was in 2000 in Ivory Coast and they came second.
The Africa championship serves as a qualifier for the 2024 IHF Women’s Youth World Handball Championship.
The championship is slated to be held in Monastir Tunisia from the 16th to the 23rd of September, 2023.
