Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is ready to support the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter.

Musa, a prominent figure in Nigerian football, made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the FCT SWAN executive, led by Chairman Kelechi Onwudiwe, on Sunday, June 30, 2024, in Kaduna.

Musa, who played a crucial role in Nigeria’s 2013 African Cup of Nations victory in South Africa, emphasized the importance of sports writers in the growth of the sports industry.

The West African nation’s most capped player pledged to collaborate with the FCT chapter to promote Nigerian football and urged journalists to maintain objectivity in their reporting.

“Insha Allah, I will do my best. I am always open anytime you need my services. If I am in town, I will always accept your invitations. We will work together to achieve all that needs to be achieved. I want to see Nigerian football return to its glory days,” Musa stated.

SWAN FCT Chairman Onwudiwe thanked Musa for his ongoing contributions to sports development, recounting that he still has much to offer, particularly in football.

“Ahmed Musa’s dedication to Nigerian sports is truly inspiring. His willingness to partner with SWAN FCT will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our efforts to promote and develop football in the country,” Onwudiwe said.

In addition to his comments on Musa’s partnership, Onwudiwe emphasized the role of sports journalism in the industry, noting, “Sports journalists are the bridge between the athletes and the fans. We have a responsibility to report accurately and objectively, and with the support of figures like Ahmed Musa, we can achieve great things.”

Additionally, Musa has recently launched the Myca7 Café within the Ahmed Musa Neighbourhood Centre on Yakowa Road, Chikun L.G.A., Kaduna. The sports and recreational centre, inaugurated in 2020, features a 5-a-side pitch with stands, a gym, a swimming pool, a hall, a restaurant, and a café, serving as a hub for sports and relaxation.

The launch event saw attendance from notable personalities, including Super Eagles defender Abdullahi Shehu, former U17 star Rabiu Ibrahim, African Beach Soccer Union President Mahmud Hadeija, Plateau State Commissioner for Sports Development Bashir Lawandi Datti, and veteran Nollywood actor Ali Nuhu.
