The head coach of the South African Premier League side Moroka Swallows, Nyatama has confirmed that the signing of Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi Is a great addition to the team.
Akpeyi joined Swallows for free after spending a couple of months training with the team as he was a free agent since being released from Kaizer Chiefs at the end of last season.
Despite interests from other clubs Swallows snapped him up and have reaped immediate rewards as he’s conceded just once, in the first three games he’s featured as they look to survive relegation.
“His experienced, he’s played in the World Cup, he’s played at AFCON – so we needed that [kind] of experience at the back, we needed someone who guides the guys from the back,” Nyatama told iDiski Times.
“He’s done well for us, keeping the second clean sheet also is good for us while guiding those guys at the back”, he added.
The veteran keeper has racked up 154 appearances in the South African top flight with 54 clean sheets to his name.
