The Junior Teranga Lions of Senegal have ended the hope of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles getting any medal at the ongoing 2023 African Games in Ghana.
Despite scoring first, the Flying Eagles succumbed to the firing power of the 10-man Senegalese team losing the last group match 3-2.
It was Charles Agada who put Nigeria ahead early in the game before Idriss Gueye scored twice to put Senegal in control.
Favour Izuogu levelled the game for Nigeria in the 50th minute before Famara Camara scored from the penalty spot to secure the victory for Senegal.
Nigeria had earlier in the competition lost to the Hippos of Uganda in the opener before beating South Sudan 1-0 in second match.
With the loss to Senegal, the Ladan Bosso led team finished third in Group B with three points from.three matches and could not qualify for the semi-final of the 2023 All African Games men’s football game.
