Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has announced his retirement from international football.
The Gabon football federation said it received a letter from the striker on Tuesday informing it of his decision, after playing for the national team for 13 years.
The former Arsenal player had 72 caps for Gabon and he is the country’s all-time leading goal scorer with 30 goals.
He helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the 2012 African Cup of Nations to equal their best record in international competitions.
The 32-year-old last tournament with Gabon was at the last AFCON in Cameroon, he contracted COVID-19 at the start of the tournament and had to withdraw without playing a game after being diagnosed with heart issues.
