Rwandan champions and representatives at this year’s Basketball African League, APR will slug it out against Al Ittihad Alexandria in a friendly as they prepare for Rivers Hoopers.
According to the Times of Rwanda, the Egyptian basketball club touched down in Kigali for friendly matches against APR as part of the army side’s preparations for the upcoming Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Al Ittihad Alexandria, also known as Al Ittihad Elsakandry, is a big basketball entity in Egypt, having won 13 championships in the country.
The team will play two friendly games Vs APR on Saturday, March 23, and Monday, March 25, at the STECOL basketball court.
Following the friendlies, APR is expected to play additional build-up matches before departing for Dakar to compete in the Sahara conference of the BAL in May.
The Rwandan champions are grouped in the Sahara Conference alongside formidable opponents such as Tunisia’s US Monastir, Senegal’s AS Douanes, and Nigerian champions Rivers Hoopers.
The Sahara Conference’s regular season is scheduled to unfold from May 4 to May 12 in Dakar, Senegal.
