Barcelona has reportedly tabled a two-year contract offer with an option of an additional twelve months to Bayern Munich superstar, Robert Lewandowski.
According to Diario AS, Barcelona has decided to call off their pursuit of Liverpool superstar, Mohamed Salah, while their move for Erling Haaland is also in jeopardy. It has led to them upping their efforts to sign Bayern Munich goalscorer, Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window, with a contract offer now being tabled.
Lewandowski is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best, strikers in the game. The 33-year-old has been a prolific performer for Bayern Munich since joining them from rivals Borussia Dortmund in 2014 in a free transfer. In 367 appearances, the Polish international has plundered 339 goals and 69 assists for Die Roten, winning a host of titles and trophies.
However, Lewandowski’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in the summer of 2023. And the legendary striker is believed to be considering one last big move in his career and taking up a new challenge, leading to talks of a potential exit from the Allianz Arena in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Barcelona has emerged as one of the strongest suitors heading into the summer. The Blaugrana are on the lookout for a marquee signing who can fill in the shoes left vacant by the departure of Lionel Messi last year. They have spent a lot of time chasing Borussia Dortmund hitman, Erling Haaland, but the Norwegian is likely to join Manchester City or Real Madrid instead.
As for Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool forward had been heavily linked. But the Egyptian international is inching closer to signing a new deal at Anfield, which has prompted the Catalan giants to end their pursuit of him.
Lewandowski, thus, is seen as the most economically feasible and reliable option by Barcelona. They have tabled a contract offer for the Polish international, which lasts for two years until the summer of 2024. The Blaugrana would have the option of extending it by another twelve months.
