World record holder Tobi Amusan will start her title defence on Wednesday at the World Athletics Championship in Budapest.
Recall, she made history by winning the gold medal in the Women’s 100m Hurdles on the final day of the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, United States of America.
Amusan is the first African and Nigerian to achieve the feat after she crossed the line with a scorching 12.06s (+2.5m/s) which would have been her second World Record (WR) of the evening but for the excess wind.
The Nigerian track sensation and poster girl will line up in heat 5 of the women’s 100m hurdles.
Recall Amusan was recently cleared by a panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal, by majority decision, to have not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of three Whereabouts Failures within 12 months.
She will be up against Jamaican champion, Megan Tapper and Australia’s Michelle Jenneke for a spot in the semis.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel Nathaniel finished 6th in the opening semifinal of the men’s 400m Hurdles at the World Championships in Budapest, clocking a time of 49.22s.
It was going to be a big task, as he went up against athletes like Kyron McMaster, CJ Allen, and Jaheel Hyde.
