Zamalek emerged as the winners of Group D in the CAF Confederation Cup after a dominant 3-1 victory over Mozambican champions Black Bulls in Cairo on Sunday.
With the match relocated to Cairo due to unrest in Mozambique, Black Bulls fell behind early in the second half as Hossam Ashraf scored, then doubled his lead less than two minutes later.
Black Bulls responded through Ejaita Ifoni, who found the net just past the hour mark. However, Zamalek legends Shikabala and Ahmed Sayed combined to seal the win, putting the Egyptian side beyond reach.
In the other Group D match in Nigeria, Enyimba kept their hopes alive for a second-place finish despite a 1-1 draw at home against Al Masry.
The Egyptian side capitalized on poor marking to score from a well-executed set piece within the first ten minutes.
Enyimba’s Ifeanyi Ihemekwele equalized soon after halftime, but Al Masry held on for a valuable point.
The Egyptian club remains at the top of the group, one point ahead of Enyimba in second place, with one final home game against Black Bulls, who are two points behind in fourth.
Enyimba now faces a must-win match against Zamalek next Sunday, hoping for Black Bulls to avoid defeat at Al Masry to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
