The coach of Napoli Walter Mazzarri has explained the reason, Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen did not start the Champions League game against Spanish giants Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Osimhen returned to action for the Italian champions last weekend against Atalanta where he played for 25 minutes.
He was introduced into the game in Spain in the second half as the Partenopei lost 4-2 to the former European champions.
“He had 20-25 minutes in his legs with Atalanta at the weekend, we could not risk a relapse and so he is being reintroduced gradually”, he said.
The chances of the Nigerian international leaving the Italian side during the next winter transfer are very high as the English premier league side Chelsea is ready to table an offer for him.
