Samuel Chukwueze has given himself a morale boost heading to the AFCON 2023 double fixture against Guinea Bissau scoring his 5th La Liga goal in the colours of the Yellow Submarine.

Villarreal have put their European disappointment from Thursday behind them quickly to get back to winning ways as they defeated Osasuna 3-0 at El Sadar to ease pressure on head coach Quique Setien.

Chukwueze put Villarreal in the 11th minute scoring with an easy tap-in with his knee.

He then made it 2-0 less than five minutes later, but his celebration was cut short after the goal was ruled out for offside by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

The Yellow Submarine then suffered a blow during the match as star striker Gerard Moreno had to be replaced after 35 minutes after suffering a suspected calf injury.

Moreno was replaced by Jose Luis Morales, who scored twice late on to confirm Villarreal’s victory.

His first was a remarkable effort, as he lobbed Osasuna keeper Aitor Fernandez from the halfway line.

Villarreal stay sixth after their victory, extending their lead over Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano, who sit 7th and 8th respectively on 36 points.
