Villarreal winger, Samuel Chukwueze, will be eying his first ever UEFA Champions League start in tonight’s round of 16 tie at home to Juventus.
Chukwueze, 22, emerged a scoring debutant after replacing Gerard Moreno in the match day three outing played on October 20 2021 against host, Young Boys.
Since he returned from a muscle injury, which ruled him out for several months, the dazzler marked his comeback with a stoppage time goal to lift his side to a 1-4 victory.
In the return leg, which doubled as the match day four outing, he was also introduced in the second half of the game to inspire the Yellow Submarine to another 2-0 win on home soil before suffering a loss against Cristiano Ronaldo’s led Manchester United side.
The Nigerian continue in his quest to struggle his way into Unai Emery first eleven but ended up an unused substitute in Villarreal’s 2-3 victory away to Italian side, Atalanta.
Having experienced this, he will be hoping to break jinx by making the starting line up at the Allianz Stadium.
Meanwhile, Chukwueze, last season lifted his first ever club trophy by helping the Spanish team beat English Premier League giant, Manchester United to emerge the 2021 UEFA Europa League champion. He has also been instrumental in the ongoing domestic league by helping Villarreal maintain 6th position on the log.
