National junior women’s football teams of Ghana, Cameroon and Morocco on Sunday qualified for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup final which will be played in Colombia from August 31 to September 22, 2024.
They joined Nigeria’s U-20 women’s football team, Falconets who were the first African team to qualify for the competition after edging Burundi 1-0 at Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja on Saturday to go through on 2-0 aggregate.
On Sunday, Ghana’s Black Princesses thrashed Teranga Lionesses of Senegal 5–1 at Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi to qualify on 7-1 aggregate while Morocco despite losing 0-1 to Ethiopia at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa still qualified on 2-1 aggregate courtesy of 2-0 first leg win in Rabat.
Also, Cameroon’s junior Lionesses in spite playing out a 1-1 draw at Stade de la Réunification in Douala, relied on the 4-2 away victory against Egypt to qualify on 5-3 aggregate.
The four countries Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Morocco have therefore qualified to represent Africa in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup final later in the year.
Below is the second leg results of Colombia 2024 African qualifiers are:
Nigeria 1-0 Burundi (agg 2-0); Cameroon 1-1 Egypt (agg 5-3); Ethiopia 1-0 Morocco (agg 1-2) and Ghana 5-1 Senegal (agg 7-1).
Accordingly, Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon and Morocco will represent African continent at the 2024 Women’s U20 World Cup in Colombia.
