Yum Yum FC player, and Flying Eagles’ right back Daniel Bameyi – who also captained the team against Dominican Republic on Sunday was adjudged the Best passer of the ball by FIFA after the game.
Daniel, 17 years old, completed 90 minutes of the game, while placing 74 completed passes to his teammates with 100% accuracy, as he flanked up and down the right side as a full back. The highest passer in the group D opener between Flying Eagles and Dominican Republic.
His pace, agility and ball sense contributed to the team’s solidity in defence, reducing the goals conceded to only the spot kick scored by Dominican Republic.
Daniel who hails from the Southern part of Nigeria received his first ever call up to the senior team during a friendly affair with Costa Rica last year – 2022, going on to make his debut in the 2-0 loss under the tutelage of current coach Jose Peseiro.
He was rated 7.5/10 for his performance, and would hope that his form is sustained in subsequent games against stiffer oppositions like Italy and Brazil.
