Swedish club Malmö FF has confirmed the signing of Emmanuel Ekong on a five-year contract.
Though born in Italy, Ekong’s football journey began with IF Brommapojkarna in Sweden.
At the age of 16, he moved back to Italy to pursue a youth career with Empoli.
After four years of development, Ekong made his Serie A debut, and in October of the previous year, he earned his first call-up to the Swedish U21 national team.
“Malmö FF is delighted to announce the arrival of Emmanuel Ekong,” the club said in a statement.
“The talented attacking midfielder joins from Italian Serie A side Empoli FC.”
