Emile Smith Rowe followed in Cesc Fabregas’ footsteps with creative exploits in North London Derby

A hugely impressive statistic – surrounding Arsenal starlet Emile Smith Rowe – has come to the fore on the back of Sunday’s latest North London Derby.

Laca completes the turnaround

Hostilities were of course renewed at the Emirates a little over 24 hours ago.

Mikel Arteta’s Gunners welcomed Tottenham to the red half of north London, for a highly anticipated Premier League showdown.

It was the visitors who headed into proceedings both in better form and with more to play for, having worked their way back into the fight for European football over the last couple of weeks.

When all was said and done in the capital, however, it was Arsenal who emerged on the right side of a 2-1 scoreline.

Spurs took the lead in the clash just past the half-hour mark, when Erik Lamela directed a Goal of the Season contender into the far corner of Bernd Leno’s net:

Arsenal, though, after rattling the woodwork on a pair of occasions, were eventually rewarded for their efforts with an equaliser on the stroke of the interval.

Martin Odegaard was the man responsible, capping off a fine week with his first Premier League goal from close range.

And the clash was then turned on its head 20 minutes into the 2nd-half, as Alexandre Lacazette lashed home from the penalty spot, securing all 3 points for the Gunners in the process:

In turn, on the back of their impressive comeback victory, it subsequently came as little surprise to see a host of members of Mikel Arteta’s squad singled out for praise.

The likes of Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Magalhaes and match-winner Lacazette all impressed, en route to a morale-boosting 3 points.

It is in fact another of Arsenal’s stars, however, who’s exploits on Sunday resulted in him joining a rather exclusive North London Derby club.

The player in question? Emile Smith Rowe.

Midfielder Smith Rowe has of course shone on an almost weekly basis this season, since first being handed the chance to showcase his talents on a consistent basis by Arteta late last year.

And yesterday’s showdown proved no different, with it having been revealed that the 20-year-old created no fewer than four goalscoring opportunities against Tottenham, making him the youngest player to manage such a feat in the North London Derby since Cesc Fabregas, all the way back in 2007:
