The arrival of newly appointed Super Eagles head coach Eric Sekou Chelle on Saturday is now uncertain, following a meeting by the board of his current club, MC Oran.

An emergency meeting was convened by the Algerian club after the Nigeria Football Federation announced Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

Following the meeting, it was decided that Chelle will remain in charge of MC Oran for their upcoming Algerian Cup match against Setif this weekend, with a final decision on his departure to be made afterwards.

Chelle and his two assistants were initially expected to arrive in Nigeria on Saturday ahead of their official unveiling on Monday.

A statement from MC Oran’s management confirmed that after a meeting with Coach Chelle, it was agreed to delay any decision about his future until after the Cup match, to ensure the team remains focused on the important fixture.

“The club management has confirmed that Chelle will oversee the team for the Cup match as planned,” the statement read.

“A final meeting will take place after his return to Oran to discuss the matter further.”
