CAF immediately after the announcement of the host cleared that the competition will be held in the summer of 2025 which might clash with FIFA Club World Cup.
The Mauritania football administrator while speaking to Canal Sports, said they are speaking with FIFA to harmonise the calendar.
“At this present time, we desire to play the tournament in the summer.
We are aware that the Club World Cup will held in June 2025 there are already negotiations between FIFA and CAF to find a solution.
“We are looking for the interest of the African Cup of Nations and the interest of the tournament to be held in the summer because this is the time that our players are available after the leagues, more than the case in January”, he said.
Egypt in 2019 was the only time the competition has been held in the summer.
