Nigeria Falconets Top Group C After Beating France In 2022 FIFA Women World Cup in Costa Rica
Florish Sabastine lone strike in the 85th minutes gave the Nigeria U20 Women’s National team a slim 1-0 win over France in group C opener at the San Jose National Stadium on Friday morning.
The Christopher Danjuma led side pipped Le Bleu to get their tenth FIFA U20 Women World Cup in Flying colours. They secured the first three group maximum three points in their first match at the competition sending warming signals to other group opponents, Canada and Korea.
Florish Sebastine received a defense breaking pass from Mercy Idoko to break the French defense and slotted the ball to the left bottom corner with her left foot to give Nigeria a deserved lead.
In the 80th minute, referee Gonzalez ruled out France goal scored by substitute Nassi after VAR review.
Canada will face South Korea at 3pm later today in their first match. Nigeria will face South Korea on Sunday August 14 at 9pm in their second group game.
