The President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Ibrahim Gusau has said that the Super Eagles Head Coach, Finidi George can still qualify the country for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Super Eagles are placed fifth on the Ground C table with three points from four matches while Rwanda, South Africa and Benin Republic are in first, second and third positions with 7 points apiece.

Despite this, Gusau added that the federation has 100% confident and support for the Head Coach of the Super Eagles to still qualify the 2013 African champions for the 2026 World Cup.

The President after the meeting between NFF and the Minister on Thursday said, “It’s a very sad moment for Nigeria football, we can’t run away from that but all I want to assure you is that we are working tirelessly with the Minister to take holistic measure to see that we change the face of entire system so that we can move forward.

Don’t forget it is still possible (mathematically) to qualify and we are going to make it and I just want to assure you that we want to fight it to the latter and make sure that Nigeria will qualify to the world cup.

This is not something that I will say now but we will soon see good measures the NFF will come out with and by the grace of God those measures will lead us to qualify for the next World Cup

Don’t forget also that before the next round of the World Cup qualifiers, we have AFCON qualifiers in between where all the six AFCON qualifier games would be played before the world cup qualfying series by then, we will show Nigerians the kind of steps we have taken in making sure that we will qualify. I just want to assure Nigerians that Super Eagles will be at the next World Cup with Finidi as the coach. Nigerians should continue to pray for us. He concluded.
