Finidi George has called on the Interim Management Company (IMC) to see it as necessary by introducing technology to aid the performance of officials during Nigeria Premier League (NPL) matches.

Finidi, while commending the country’s football referees and their assistants for a good job done during the Abridge League season, says more needs to be done as regards officiating.

Speaking after Enyimba’s 4-goal thriller with Remo Stars in the first game of the Super 6 playoff at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos.

“It’s been good this season, as teams picked points on the road but overall more still needs to be done.

“I think with the help of the Video Assistant Referees (VAR), it will make things easier for the match officials.”

On the People’s Elephants’ chances of the title or a CAF inter-club spot for next season and the playoff matches timing.

“We have depth in the Enyimba squad, and with players that can easily fill in the gap when necessary and give their best

“We plan to rotate the starting lineup in each match, so we’re not quite worried about play-off fixtures, which see teams have only 24 hours.

“I fancy our chances to clinch the title or a ticket from the playoff. The result against Remo Star was 2 points lost, as my team lost concentration, conceding two easy goals.

“I feel they didn’t do enough as they should have done better in that goal from a set-piece. It’s a mini-tournament and we hope to get better.”
