Nuno Espirito Santo, manager of Premier League side Nottingham Forest has backed Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi despite the penalty miss.
Nottingham Forest crashed out to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup with Awoniyi missing a crucial penalty.
But the team coach has refused to blamed the Nigerian for the club instead. ” Awoniyi’s performance was good , in the end it was clear that Awoniyi was lacking some energy, but he worked very hard until the end.
” He had two or three good chances to finish, we want to give Taiwo this opportunity to raise his level of fitness because the talent is there.
“You cannot ignore the penalty moment for all of us, especially for the players involved in that situation.
“But we are here to support him and we don’t have much time for sorrow because we go again on Saturday.”
