The Minister of Youth and Sports in Ghana Honourable Mustapha Ussif has revealed that Ghana will be guided by Nigeria’s Sports as Business Policy(NSIP) to develop a version that will benefit the Ghanaian sports ecosystem.

Ussif made this revelation in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during the Ministerial meeting of the African Union, 4th Specialized Committee meeting on Youth, Culture and Sports which was held on Friday, the 26th May 2023 at the African Union Commission Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Sports as Business Policy approved by the Federal Executive Council in November 2021 is one of the achievements of the Sports Minister Sunday Dare following the earlier reclassification of Sports as Business and not just mere recreation.

Already, the Technical Committee jointly set up by the Sports and Finance Ministries have concluded work on the incentives outlined in the policy for interested investors in Nigeria’s sports.

Experts believe that the implementation of the Sports as Business Policy will tackle the problem of inadequate funding that has plagued the country’s sports for many years and hampered her potentials.
